Netherlands Embassy in Islamabad Temporarily Closed

Islamabad: The Embassy of the Netherlands in Pakistan has announced a temporary closure starting July 9, 2025, due to ongoing severe weather conditions. The update was shared through the embassy’s official social media platforms.
Earlier, the embassy had remained closed on July 7 following heavy rainfall in the capital. While no reopening date has been specified, embassy officials have advised all citizens and visa applicants to avoid visiting during this period.
Applicants with scheduled appointments will be contacted soon with new dates, the embassy assured.
Nationwide Impact of Monsoon Rains
This temporary closure comes as heavy monsoon rains continue to batter many parts of Pakistan. According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), at least 87 people have lost their lives and 149 others have been injured in rain-related incidents across the country over the past two weeks.
Flash floods were identified as the primary cause of these casualties.
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) reported the highest death toll with 30 fatalities, including 14 children, and 30 injuries.
- Punjab recorded 29 deaths, among them 15 children and four women, with 77 injured.
- Other regions also suffered losses:
- Sindh: 16 deaths, 34 injured
- Balochistan: 11 deaths, 3 injured
- Azad Kashmir: 1 death, 5 injured
The NDMA has urged citizens to remain alert and follow safety guidelines as the monsoon season continues to pose serious risks across the country.
